I have been trying to find any info regarding a GCC Elite XL 1208. Let me tell you it has not been easy! Printer was used in my place of employment in very dusty conditions. Started giving problems printing fine line work. Free av for mac. Printer was recently givin' to me.
To make a long story shorter, I am having a light print condition. On a typical form letter, the top and bottom 2 inches print great, but the center is very light. I have cleaned everything that I can get to without taking the PC boards out. Still have the problem. This printer has only 19,385 on its page count. I think I need to get to the back side of the scanner/laser glass window.
(under all the circuit boards). Does anyone know what might be going on with this? What do I need to clean or replace or test? That's another one of the awful fuji/xerox offerings. The paper feeds in landscape orientation so the top and bottom are actually the left and right sides of the paper.

Optics generally get dust collection on the side that the fan is mounted on. The reason being is the air flow goes that way. If the fan is center mounted, then your condition could result. Fuji/xerox also likes to mount their scanner assemblies on the bottom of everything. Brilliant engineering! Have you tried another toner cartridge?

Toner starvation usually occurs in the center of the page. Try rocking the toner (don't shake) from side to side. This will redistribute the toner. If that fixes the problem. Replace the cartridge.

Any test procedures you know of? This was a great printer when new. I see 2 fans. 1 on each back corner.
I have tried 2 differant toner cartridges. Both of them are used but I'm told that one was fairly new when printer was retired. Have the same results with both. The toner is so expensive for this and I would hate to buy a new one only to find out that the printer cant be fixed. I still think that there is a lot of dust on the inside of the the scanner/laser area.
Any ideas on how to clean this? Gonna have to tear this thing all apart.
Guess I really dont have much to lose. Any additional?
